What is advertising?
Advertising refers to a marketing strategy which involves paying for a space to promote a product, service or an idea. The actual message which is promoted is called advertisements. The main purpose of advertising is to reach millions of people who are most likely to be willing to purchase or use the company’s product or service (Shopify, 2018). In todays world advertising plays a very important role because without it not a single company can visualize its products to their targeted customers.
There are several social advertising companies which earns billions of dollars through advertising:
- WPP Group, London $19.0 billion,
- Omnicom Group, New York City $15.3 billion,
- Publicis Groups, Paris $9.6 billion (AdAge, 2016).

Advertising of Mobile Phones: Analysis shows that about 69.2 per cent of the total population uses mobile phones and every company year by year or after every six months is introducing their new mobile devices. Such companies are Apple, Samsung, Google Phone, etc. The techniques used by them to promote their products are online radio ads, mobile phone app ads, text messaging, QR code scan and many more. These brands organise online campaigns to promote their products and spend millions of dollars on advertisements. These ads on the other hand help them to generate revenue which is almost in billions of dollars value.
